To improve the main page, a custom font, to use for section headings, is always a good idea. When you have time, browse the fonts at https://www.google.com/fonts and see if you find one you like. Google fonts are free to use and very easy to import to a wiki. Once you find one, let me know the name of the font. You can find the font's name in the lower left corner of the box. So for example, the font at the top of page at that link is named Open Sans.

I think you can make the widget taller by simply increasing the height value, which is currently set to 250px.
